German painter and draughtsman, Heinrich Wilhelm Schweickhardt, was born in Mark Brandenburg in 1746.  As from 1775, Schweickhardt lived in The Hague, where he was widely sought as a portrait and landscape painter.  He painted in the tradition of Cuyp and Potter.

Schweickhardt died in London in 1797.
