According to an old label on the original mount, our lovely French empire portrait is of Victoire Guillon de la Fresnaye, daughter of Marc Guillon de la Fresnaye, Counsellor to the French Sénéchal's court of Saumure (?) in the last quarter of the 18th century, and of Marie-Victoire Guillon de la Fresnaye, née Pupier.
